# DOJ Hosts Training on FOIA Exemptions 1 and 7
The U.S. Department of Justice will conduct a virtual training session on Exemption 1 and Exemption 7 under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The session will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EST and is open to the public via virtual attendance.
Exemption 1 protects classified information related to national defense and foreign policy, while Exemption 7 covers records compiled for law enforcement purposes. The training aims to educate participants on the proper application and scope of these critical FOIA exemptions.
Interested attendees can register for the session through the DOJ's event portal. The training provides an opportunity for government employees, FOIA practitioners, and members of the public to gain a deeper understanding of these exemptions and their practical implementation in FOIA requests.
